fun places to go in this state

There are a lot of fun things to do and places to visit in this state. One place that is fun is the newly renovated downtown area of Greenwood in the delta. I'm probably just biased because thats where my parents are from but it is a pretty cool downtown. If you go to Greenwood, you have to eat at the Crystall Grill. It is a famous local restaurant that has been there for several decades. It is a seafood restaurant.
The Coast area is pretty cool too. Now that things are starting to get built back, its getting to be a fun place to go again.
As I've talked about in my previous blogs, I like the Jackson area as well. Ridgeland and Madison are cool places to go. Flowood is getting to be pretty cool as well.
Vicksburg is another pretty cool place to go. It is an old historic city and it is not far from the Jackson area.

stressed

The end of the semester and the last couple of weeks of school are not much fun. I have a whole bunch of schoolwork to get done and not much time to do it. I will get it done though and it will be nice to celebrate the summertime. I'm pretty stressed right now over school but thats because its exam time. I think most people are probably pretty stressed right now over school. I am just gonna try to do the best that I possibly can. I know that if I try my hardest, then there is never anything to be ashamed about. I'm gonna try to reward myself when I get chances to for studying. I'll take a break and go grab some good food or go rent a good movie. I may go hang out at a friend's place. Those are just good ways to take my mind off school for a while and are good rewards to myself. Its good to reward yourself for studying as they provide good incentives for studying.

keep the doors open

Somebody once told me to always keep the doors open. I think what he meant by this is to always do the best you can and the more you excel, the more doors will be open or opportunities will be available. However, if you shut a door or not take advantage of an opportunity, sometimes these doors are impossible to reopen. I know of people who kept doors open and did the best they could during college who are now succeeding in their lives. I know one person who in their 30s decided to go to medical school and another in their 40s who decided to go to law school. They were able to do this because they did well back in their college years and their efforts in college enabled them to make career changes and get accepted into graduate programs. Keep the doors open might sound like kind of a vague expression, but I definitely think I understand what that man was talking about.

senator switches parties

I just read on the internet that apparently longtime Republican Senator Arlen Specter has switched parties from Republican to Democrat. I'm neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I'm an independent. Both parties have a lot of problems. It doesn't make much sense though that someone who has been in the Senate for as long as Specter has could just change parties. Thats pretty strange but it shows that the political party system in Washington doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It is rumored that he was going to lose the Republican primary in Pennsylvania and that might have played a big part in why he might have changed parties. It seems like most politicians only care about getting re-elected and some of them probably vote certain ways on issues just to get re-elected.

another day

Another day is here. A few more days of classes left this semester and then exams. I think I'm ready for my exams. It will be tough having so many tests in one week, but I have been keeping up with the work in all of my classes. I'm glad that I've kept up pretty well in my classes, because it makes finals week a lot less stressful. I need to find time to fit in a trip to Wal Mart today to get some snacks since I haven't been to the store in a while. It will be nice to be done for the semester. Time has flown by and summer is almost here. Its kind of weird how fast time flies. Somebody once told me that time flies by like the blink of an eye and I definitely agree.

the cable news media

The cable news media is pretty ridiculous. Each station has their own agenda. Each station has shows which feature political pundits who make a lot of money from all the partisan bickering. They make their living by getting both parties stirred up over issues. Rarely do you ever really get both sides of the story on most of these shows. I dont know if it has always been like this, but these stations are all pretty biased in their coverage of issues. They are so biased in their coverage that a lot of people probably won't even watch any of the cable news media stations. I would think that they would realize that if their coverage was more honest, then they would have more viewers but apparently they don't realize this. I'm not sure its going to ever change since it seems like it keeps getting worse.

swine flu

This swine flu stuff could get kinda scary. Hopefully people will be responsible and the virus wont spread. I've heard that a big part of the problem when some crazy health situation happens is that some people who are sick don't stay away from others. Hopefully the government has the vaccines and stuff to deal with some type of outbreak. I didnt know that there was some swine flu pandemic in the early 1900s and that is scary. The media has been covering the swine flu stuff a lot. It definitely could be a real serious situation but if its not, hopefully the media won't scare everyone. Right now it seems that it is too early to tell if it is going to turn into a really serious situation.

going to Jackson for weekend

Unless I change my mind, I'm going to be going to Jackson for the weekend. The first thing I'm gonna do is get a haircut. I really need to get a haircut. Its been too long since I've gotten one. After that, Im gonna spend some time hanging out with my cousins, who I haven't seen in a long time. I'll probably get some food from Sal and Phil's Seafood House, one of my favorite seafood restaurants which is located in Ridgeland. I haven't eaten there in a while and am craving some of their grilled redfish. I also wouldn't mind having some gumbo to go along with it as well. On saturday, I'll be hanging out with a couple of friends of mine who live in the Jackson area and probably play a little poker. I can't play much though because I don't have much money right now. I'll probably also play some tennis. I haven;t gotten to play any tennis in a while. Hopefully, the weather will continue to be nice. It will nice having a relaxing weekend, and hopefully I will do well on my exams which are coming up soon.

looking forward to summertime

I'm really looking forward to the summer. It has been a long semester and I'm ready for the hot weather. I'm wanting to do some traveling this summer. I want to visit a buddy of mine who lives in memphis and another buddy of mine who lives in atlanta. there are some movies I want to see. I want to maybe get netflix. and watch some movies I'm never seen before. I have friends who have netflix and are always renting new movies. They're watching a lot of movies. I think its a pretty good service. I didn't get a chance to see slum dog millionaire. My parents who hardly ever watch movies saw it and said it was a great movie. I also heard Mickey Rourke's The Wrestler was a great movie. I didn't get a chance to see it. Maybe I'll watch it in the summer.
I'm also looking forward to going home for a couple of weeks to see my family.

food that I am craving

Not having much money right now, I don't always get to eat what I want. There are a lot of food dishes that I am craving. I figured I would talk about food items that I am craving.
I'm craving some of my mom's home cooked breakfasts. My mom prepares a really good breakfast featuring sausage, bacon, eggs, grits, biscuits. My dad can make a really good omelete. I'm craving a good omelete right now.
I also am craving some seafood. One of my favorite seafood dishes is the catfish acadiana at copelands. It is a delcious dish. Its very tender catfish topped with some very delicious sauce. Whenver I go to a Copelands, it is usually what I order. Since there isn't a Copelands here anymore, I don't get to eat it very often.
I could also go for some good grilled redfish right now. Grilled redfish is one of my favroite types of fish.
A much different type of food from seafood that I'm craving right now is some barbeque food. I have relatives who live in memphis and whenever I go there I get some of the best barbeque food I've ever had. There are tons of good barbeque places there.
I'm also craving some good cheesecake right now. A lot of places have good cheesecake.

new blog

I got my car fixed yesterday. My car had been overheating. It was driving fine after the last time I got it fixed, then all of the sudden it started overheating. Well hopefully its fixed for good since its hard and expensive to get fixed. Also, its really nice to have it fixed for Spring Break.
The stock market was up again today for the fourth day in a role. Hopfeully the economy is starting to get better. They say its been 15 weeks since the stock market has been up four days in a row. Maybe all of the bailouts are finally helping the economy.

ready for spring break

Thankgoodness spring break is almost here. Its going to be really nice. Hopefully, the weather will be like it is right now. The weather has been very nice the past couple of days and it would be great if the weather stays like this. I will be in the Jackson, Mississippi area for spring break visiting friends and relatives. It will be nice having a week off from school. I have had a whole lot of tests lately and am looking forward to a break. I will probably just be relaxing and taking it easy during the break. Then after the break there arent too many weeks of the semester. I haven't felt very well the past couple of days but hopefully I'll get to feeling better. Spring break will be a good time to get rejuvenated for the rest of the semester.

more spending

I was watching the news yesterday and apparently theres another huge 490 billion dollar spending bill thats been passed. Apparently, its loaded with tons of earmarks. Its pretty crazy all the spending that goes on in Washington. It seems like every couple of weeks there has been another huge multi billion dollar spending bill that has been passed. Its gonna be interesting to see what effect all of these spending bills have on the economy. Hopefully they will stimulate the economy and get the economy healthy again. I think people are pretty tired of all the broken promises in Washington and just want the economy to get a lot better. I think that the economy will get better because it seems like the economy goes in cycles. It just might take some time.

more about the stimulus bill

I decided that I would write more about the new stimulus plan in this blog. Something had to be done, but a lot of money seems like its being spent just on stuff to get politicians reelected. It seems like there is a ton of money that is going to spent on special projects and stuff. I think in the orginal bill, this stuff has since been taken out, but in the original bill there was hundreds of millions of dollars that was going to be going towards stuff like birth control. It didn't make much sense that that stuff was in this bill. I thought that they were going to quit doing that? Realisitcally, all that earmark stuff is probably never gonna stop. Earmarks can really help a politician out if they're struggling to get re-elected. Apparently, the bill was so huge that none of the politicians ever even had a chance to read it. I don't really know a lot about how that stuff works, but how do they create such an enormous bill in a short amount of time. It doesn't seem like they spent that much time creating this massive bill. It seems like it would take years to create a bill as huge as that, but this one was created in just a few weeks.

things to do on a rainy day/new stimulus bill

Days that are rainy and kinda cold like today usually aren't the most fun days. Its easy to just want to lay down and take it easy for the day. One option is to watch some tv or a good movie. Thats a good way to avoid having to deal with the rain. I'll usually watch a movie or two on a rainy day. Theres always at least something on tv to watch. I also try to get my laundry done on rainy days like these. Since its raining, might as well get laundry out of the way in order to enjoy days when the weather is better. Another thing I try to get done on rainy days are any chores I need to do.
The new stimulus package is pretty interesting. They definitely have to do something to stimulate the economy and create more jobs. Some of the items in the bill though are pretty silly and are just earmarks to get politicans reelected. It seems like they have a hard time getting anything done in Congress with all the bipartisan bickering. Its going to be interesting to see how many, if any republicans end up voting for the bill. Thats what happens though when a couple of elections dont go well for a party. The other party then gets to do pretty much what they want.

weekend

I really need to start getting more sleep. I always stay up too late. Then I end up taking a nap which makes me stay up even later. My sleep schedule is still pretty messed up. Ive been kind of sick the last couple of days. I feel better today, so over the weekend I may go visit a friend of mine who lives on the coast. I have the tv on right now watching a movie. Im pretty tired though, so I may not go to the coast until tomorrow. I had a test today. I think I did pretty well on it. Im kind of hungry and may have to go grab something to eat. I kind of feel like having a pizza today. I may have to go pick up a pizza from papa johns. Thats my favorite pizza place. I like it better than Pizza Hut. The weather is really nice today. Its about as good as its been for a long time. Its a lot easier to get these done when the weather is nice and not dreary outside. Hopefully it will stay like this for a while. Next week im going to be pretty busy with school. This week was kind of busy but next week will be even busier.

thankgoodness its the weekend

This week has been pretty hectic for me. I've had a lot of stuff going on. Hopefully this freezing weather change into a lot warmer and nicer weather. A couple of days this week the weather was pretty dreary. It seems like the weather has been colder this year than before. It has been extremely cold as well as windy couple days. Im ready for springtime. I dont like the cold weather of the wintertime. My check engine light came on today. Thats probably not a good thing. I'll have to get that checked out right away. My car is running fine but I better take it to the shop and get it looked at. Im looking forward to sleeping in late tomorrow. Im pretty tired so it will be very nice to catch up some on sleep. My sleep schedule is pretty messed up right now so I need to get it back on track. Ive been taking some naps though to catch up on sleep, but usually all they do is make me stay up later. Oh well Im sure I'll get back on schedule eventually. Besides sleeping in late tomorrow, I'll probably watch a little basketball and do a little relaxing. The weekends are always great. They just dont ever last long enough.

inauguration 2009

It was really interesting watching the inauguration on tv. There seemed to be a huge crowd there. The people seemed to be very happy and excited about this new era. It looked like it was probably freezing cold there, but that probably didn't matter to those people. They were celebrating and enjoying the moment. It was fun seeing a lot of people waving American flags. It was really interesting watching Obama take the oath. It seemed like a very historic moment, even with the judge messing up the oath. I thought his speech was pretty good. I usually support Republicans, but since I don't like McCain that much, I supported Obama. I was pretty baffled by McCain's pick for Vice-President. I think there were a lot of people that he could have picked that would have been more qualified than Pailn. While I disagree with some of Obama's policies, I think he will probably be a very good president. I think he was a better candidate than McCain. He will be good at renewing people's enthusiasm for this country, as it seems like people have lost a lot of enthusiasm for this country. It really seems like Obama is trying to end a lot of partisanship that goes on. It seems like hes making a sincere effort to work with people who he may even disagree with. I think he will make a better president than McCain would have. Its time for someone to take the country in a new direction. It definitely feels like Obama has started a new chapter in the history of this country.
